Prayer
Perhaps prayer is the last thing you want to think about. If you are so depressed or overwhelmed with scruples and it is impossible to pray, don't worry or push it. What I personally like to do is simply look heavenward. I don't have to say a single word. God knows my intentions. He knows I want help out of this, even when I feel totally worthless and rejected by Him. Ask others to pray for you. If you don't have anyone, post a comment or send me a private message and I'll get the prayers rolling.
Psalm 88 is a wonderful scriptural prayer that sort of complains to God about the darkness one is feeling. This is a wonderful prayer that cries to God for help, and has the slightest glimpse of hope amidst the darkness. See Psalm 88.
The Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows is a unique prayer that takes you on a journey with Mary, Mother of God. The picture on below is an image of Our Lady of Sorrows found in Jerusalem Israel. It is a statue right next to the site that Jesus was crucified at. The sword piercing her heart symbolizes the great sorrow she experienced in her life, including the death of her son.
Catholic Prayer Against Depression:
O ChristJesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

Blessed Virgin Mary is God's own mother. Who better to turn to for prayers! How can Jesus refuse the request of His own mother? Mary is also referred to as Our Lady of Sorrows as her life was filled with sorrows, including the witness of the death of her son, Jesus Christ. The picture above is a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows that is found in Jerusalem, Israel, beside the site of Jesus' crucifixion. The sword piercing her heart is symbolism of the great pain Mary felt. She is a wonderful person to turn to when in the sorrows of depression, any mental illness, or any sorrow. See The Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows.
St. Dymphna is the patron saint of mental illness. Ask her to pray for you or your loved one who has mental illness.
St. Christina the Astonishing is a saint I have just come across through research. Apparently she was considered both insane and holy. Maybe there is hope for me after all! :) Anyway, she is a patroness of the mentally ill.
Your Holy Guardian Angel is your own personal "saint." Each person has a Guardian Angel. Angels are the ones who bring all of our prayers to God, and God gives all of our angels the blessings and messages to send to us! Really cool to have angels! Ask your guardian angel to protect you!
With all saints, ask them to pray for you!
