Prayer for Relief from Anxiety
My God, I am terribly anxious. Rid me of the anxieties that I can control. For the anxiety that I have no control over, grant me spiritual peace and strength. I entrust all of my anxieties, big, small, controllable, and uncontrollable, to You.
Suggested Saints
Blessed Virgin Mary is God's own mother. Who better to turn to for prayers! How can Jesus refuse the request of His own mother?
St. Martha and St. Mary of Bethany are two biblical characters who knew Jesus personally. Many know them best as the sisters of Lazarus--the man Jesus raised from the dead. Martha is known for being "anxious about many things" and Mary is known for being good at relaxation by the feet of Jesus. If you struggle with anxiety, talk it out with St. Martha, because she has totally been there. Talk it out with St. Mary as well, because she knows how to sit still at Jesus' feet! See the picture to the right.
Your Holy Guardian Angel is your own personal "saint." Each person has a Guardian Angel. Angels are the ones who bring all of our prayers to God, and God gives all of our angels the blessings and messages to send to us! Really cool to have angels! Ask your guardian angel to protect you!
With all saints, ask them to pray for you!
Books
Searching for and Maintaining Peace: A Small Treatise on Peace of Heart by Fr. Jacques Philippe is a fantastic book about peace--what it is and how to attain it. This book has even helped me to find peace during an anxiety attack!
